I once had a lengthy conversation with a great major league hitter and we talked about drills, tendencies of pitchers, making adjustments at the plate etc., then he looked at me and said" The difference between a good hitter and a great hitter is they both have prepared and done their work, but the great hitter say's to himself as he looks out at the pitcher if you come over the plate I'm gonna bust your ass; and he believes it!" Luke Appling was one of the best hitting shortstops to ever play the game, and I believed what he said considering he was in the Baseball Hall of Fame. A Lou Brock quote, now that’s class!
